The Story Behind Our Name

  • The cat bird is a song bird known for seeking out the highest perch from which to see both its competitors and opportunities.
  • The expression “in the catbird seat” was first used by legendary Southern US baseball commentator Red Barber in the 1940s. It was used to describe being in an enviable position “like a batter with three balls and no strikes on him”.
